\r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n \r\n QURAN \r\n |
Translation:
\r\n- \r\n
- \r\n The \r\n Arabs were addicted to female infanticide. In a society \r\n perpetually at war, a son was a source of strength, \r\n whereas a daughter was a source of weakness. Even \r\n now infanticide is not unknown in other countries \r\n for economic reasons. This crime against children's \r\n lives is here characterized as one of the greatest \r\n sins (Khit-an-Kabeeraa).\r\n \r\n
- \r\n
- \r\n This \r\n verse totally demolishes the economic basis on which \r\n birth control movements have arisen in different periods \r\n of human history. In the past, fear of poverty drove \r\n people to infanticide and abortion. Today, it drives \r\n people towards a third alternative: prevention of \r\n conception.\r\n
- \r\n However, \r\n according to this provision of the Islamic manifesto, \r\n a human being is required not to waste his/her energies \r\n on the destructive task of reducing the number of \r\n mouths to be fed, instead, he/she should \r\n devote his/her energies to constructive tasks which, \r\n under God's Law, leads to increases in the production \r\n of wealth.\r\n \r\n
- \r\n
- \r\n It is \r\n evident from the above verse that one of man's major \r\n blunders is that he often decides to put a brake on \r\n procreation for fear of poverty. The verse \r\n warns us that in no way do we control the process \r\n of providing sustenance for God's creatures. It \r\n rests with God alone.\r\n
- \r\n Now, \r\n in the same manner that God has provided men with \r\n their sustenance in the past, He will also do so in \r\n future. Human history also bears witness to \r\n the fact that economic resources in different parts \r\n of the world have increased in proportion to the growth \r\n of human popul-ation; and at times, these \r\n resources have increased at an even higher pace than \r\n growth in population. Hence, man's amateurish interference \r\n in the providential arrangements of God amounts to \r\n nothing short or folly.\r\n
- \r\n This \r\n explains the fact the since the time the Quran was \r\n revealed and until the present, Muslims have, as a \r\n whole, never cherished any ideas that might be considered \r\n genocidal.\r\n \r\n

JIHAD: \r\n Literally, means Striving. Any earnest striving in the \r\n way of God, involving either personal effort, material \r\n resources or arms, for righteousness and against evil, \r\n wrong-doing and oppression. Where it involves armed \r\n struggle, it must be for the defense of the Muslim community \r\n or just war to protect even non-Muslims from evil, oppression \r\n and tyranny.

- \r\n
- \r\n Use \r\n Wisdom and speak only what is needed. Often times, we begin to explain Islam to non-Muslims the \r\n way we were taught Islam traditionally, without \r\n giving the true spirit and wisdom behind the \r\n message. For instance, it is not wise to give \r\n all the details of the rituals of Prayer and \r\n Wudu, to a seeker of Truth, before even explaining \r\n why should everyone pray to God, in the first \r\n place. Similarly, generally speaking, it is \r\n not wise to use present day Muslims, as examples; \r\n instead, we should emphasize how Islam is supposed \r\n to change the character of those who truly posses \r\n and practice this beautiful faith. In addition, \r\n keep in mind, the more unnecessary information \r\n we give away, the more we confuse others. Therefore, \r\n we should really come out of these \"cultural \r\n boxes\" or \"conventional loops\" that limit our \r\n vision and potential for an effective Dawa to \r\n people. As Br. Dawud Wharnsby-Ali says, \"If \r\n someone asks us, 'What do you believe in?' it \r\n is more effective to say, 'I believe in One \r\n God', instead of saying, 'I believe in Islam,' \r\n because by doing that we automatically open \r\n the doors for them to explore Islam, since many \r\n of them, at first, would probably prefer to \r\n know more about One God, rather than this 'label', \r\n called Islam\"...... \r\n [To be continued in the next issue]\r\n

Injunctions \r\n on Clothing & Covering of Nakedness
\r\n- \r\n
- \r\n \"Accursed \r\n is the one who casts a look at the shameful parts \r\n of his brother.\" (Ahkam-al-Quran, by Al-Jassas)\r\n
- \r\n \"No \r\n man should look at a naked man and no woman should \r\n look at a naked woman.\" (Muslim)\r\n
- \r\n \"By \r\n God, it is better for me to be dropped from the \r\n skies and torn into two, than that I should look \r\n at the private parts of somebody or that someone \r\n should look at my private parts.\" (Al-Mabsoot)\r\n
- \r\n \"Beware, \r\n never strip yourself of clothes, because with \r\n you is the One (i.e. Angel), Who never leaves you \r\n alone, except at the time when you attend to the \r\n call of nature or have intercourse.\" (At-Tirmidhi)\r\n
- \r\n \"When \r\n one of you goes to his wife, he should cover his \r\n nakedness even at that time; he should not make \r\n himself naked like donkeys.\" (Ibn Majah)\r\n \r\n

\"You must present \r\n a model and an ideal way of life which may make them \r\n (the non-Muslims) interested in studying Islam, and \r\n eager to know the source of your Guidance which has \r\n enabled you to follow a particular way of life and \r\n worldview. This is the only radical way in which you \r\n can play an effective role in non-Islamic societies. \r\n
\r\nHowever, \r\n if you assimilate yourself fully into their society \r\n and take to their way of life, as a result of either \r\n some inferiority complex or out of sheer imitation \r\n whether in the U.K., or in India or in Africa or in \r\n any part of the world, you can never influence them, \r\n nor can you ever bring about any change in them, even \r\n if you live in their midst for centuries!\" \r\n
